Jeddah Airport (KAIA) Guide for Umrah Pilgrims

King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah is where most Umrah pilgrims land. This guide explains the terminals, what happens after you land, and how to get to your hotel in Makkah, Jeddah or Madinah without stress.

Most Umrah pilgrims arrive at Jeddah Airport Terminal 1, the North Terminal or the seasonal Hajj Terminal. After immigration and baggage, your Zikr Cabs driver meets you in the arrivals hall. A private taxi from Jeddah Airport to a Makkah hotel takes about 1 to 1.5 hours and costs from SAR 240 per car (Sedan).

Which terminal will I arrive at?

Jeddah Airport has three passenger terminals that pilgrims use. Your ticket or airline app shows the terminal.

  • Terminal 1: the newest terminal. Saudia and many international airlines use it. The Haramain train station is connected to it.
  • North Terminal: used by a number of foreign airlines.
  • Hajj Terminal: opens for Hajj and Umrah charter flights, mostly in the busy seasons.

Please send us your flight number when you book. We track the flight, so if it lands early or late your driver adjusts.

What happens after you land

  • Immigration (passport and visa check). Lines can be long in Ramadan and school holidays.
  • Baggage collection. Zamzam is not allowed in checked luggage on most outbound flights, but on arrival you only collect your bags.
  • Walk to the arrivals hall. Your driver waits there with a name sign, or sends you a WhatsApp message with his exact spot.
  • Your driver helps with luggage and wheelchairs and walks you to the car.

Ihram and the miqat when flying to Jeddah

If you are going straight to Makkah for Umrah, you must be in ihram before your plane crosses the miqat. Most pilgrims put on ihram at home or at their departure airport and make the intention on the plane when the crew announces the miqat. Jeddah itself is inside the miqat boundary for people flying from most countries. Read our Miqat points guide and Ihram guide for details.

Getting from Jeddah Airport to your hotel

Families with a lot of luggage, elderly parents or small children usually prefer a private car, because it goes door to door with no change of vehicle.
