Madinah Hotels and Masjid an-Nabawi: Drop-Off Guide

Most pilgrims stay in the Markaziyah, the central area around Masjid an-Nabawi. It is calm and walkable, but some streets are closed to cars. Here is how arrivals and drop-offs work in Madinah.

Hotels in the Markaziyah (central area) are a short walk from Masjid an-Nabawi. Some streets close to cars near the mosque, so your driver drops you at the nearest permitted point and helps with luggage. A private taxi from Madinah Airport to a central hotel takes about 25 to 35 minutes and costs from SAR 110 (Sedan).

Where pilgrims stay in Madinah

  • Markaziyah north: many hotels face the north side of the mosque courtyard.
  • Markaziyah south and west: close to the side used by many visitors to the Rawdah and to Jannat al-Baqi.
  • Outside the central area: cheaper hotels a few kilometres away, usually with shuttle buses.

Drop-off near Masjid an-Nabawi

Cars can reach most central hotels, but roads directly around the mosque courtyards are for walking. At prayer times, especially Jumu’ah, traffic is very slow. Tell us your exact hotel name so the driver uses the best entrance. The mosque has many numbered gates; your hotel will tell you the closest one.
